There is a duplex in my area that was listed for sale last year but is no longer on the MLS. I viewed the property last February and it is still empty. I have looked at online tax records for the town and found it is owned by the Bank of New York. How or where do I find the contact details necessary to present an offer? Thanks.

Hi Kristin, I would start by calling the agent who previously had it listed. If it didn't sell, the owners may have let the listing expire. You can check with a local agent for expired listings, then contact the listing agent directly. They would know whether it sold or was pulled off the market. They may know who to contact. It can be tedious, but you could contact the Bank of New York and start working through the bureauacracy to find the right department. You could also put your contact info into an envelope and attach it to the door of the property. The new owners may want to sell or the lender/owner may have someone who periodically checks on the property and will forward your information.

Thanks for the pointers. First I will try the agent who showed me the property last year and see if she has the necessary details. That will definitely be much easier than attempting to locate the right person at Bank of New York. Appreciate the help.
