We were so excited to receive our books the day before yesterday!!! Here's a list of what we got in the package:
* Be a Real Estate Millionaire
* Profit From Real Estate Now
* AFF
* DVD
as well as some really informational informational papers!!!!

We watched the DVD almost immediately. When the video was finished, we were even more on fire for doing this program! We started making a list of our goals and I decided to take this one step at a time.

Currently, I have watched 2 of the Rock Bottom Blueprint Videos and am learning things I never thought possible from it! I am loving this series and can't wait for the last two to be released. My favorite part so far is that Dean is attaching information that will no doubt help me and my family as we pursue our goals of becoming financially independent!

I have read about the first 1/2 of the first chapter. This week has been very busy and I am reading as much as I can daily.

Our Goal for this week:
-- Read 1 chapter of Be a Real Estate Millionaire daily. (once finished I will move on to Profit from Real Estate Right Now using the same method of one chapter a day). I thought I would share how do am doing this, after I get my children to bed, I go to the kitchen table with a notebook, pen and my book. As I read, I will pause to take notes of things that I really want to remember as well as questions so that as they come to mind I can jot them down and then the next morning I start my day with prayer, a visit to dg.com to answer my questions and then continue my day as scheduled.

-- Start the process of getting my circle put together. I am very excited to start this process! I feel like the first step in getting my REI going is going to be getting my team in place!

-- I also want to familiarize ourselves with processes of finding properties, tax sales, short sales, REO's, OREO's, foreclosures, FSBO's etc.

-- Work on our finance plan including finding funding as well as how much we want to spend/make on our first deal.

Monthly Goal-- to start we want to close 1 to 2 deals a month!

Great Video Today Dean

Today I received the 3rd video in the Rock Bottom series. I love that you included a q/a session in this. I feel like by doing that we were able to connect with you a little more. My question for anyone who may be able to answer it is where might I find more info on wholesaling until I get to that part in the book? I got very interested after hearing Carol's testimony because like her I am a stay at home mom who needs to do something because we are also living paycheck to paycheck and I really want to change that!! If you can just direct me to the forum where I can find info that would be great!

Update for today:

I have managed to get familiarized with the forums a little more and created a poster (neon green) to hang above my desk that has the rock bottom blueprint on it. I'll take a picture and send it in as soon as I get the chance. I thought by having that blueprint where I can see it all the time, I would be able to really concentrate on the steps I need to accomplish in getting my first deal made.

I am searching yellowpages now for some of the parts of the blueprint so that I can have a headstart come Monday. See, I feel that if I work the research end of it over the weekend, I will be able to concentrate on calls/emails come Monday and have the rest of the week to followup and do what my kids need me for Smiling


Wahoooo! I am excited

As you know from reading my posts, I am new at this. Here's a little about me and my family:

My husband Ryan, is a nursing assistant and makes less than 20k a year. He is very into sports, church, and family time.

I, Dawn, am a stay at home mom, well was a stay at home mom. I have now morphed into a work at home mom! I was a Certified nursing assistant for 9 years but when it started taking a toll on my body, I quit. That was a year and a half ago. I have had all this time with my precious daughters. I am looking forward to this journey!

Mackenzie (Cool and Madison (5) are my daughters. They are so excited that Mommy is working again but that she doesn't have to leave home to do it.

Now for the exciting part, I took the advice given on the first or second video as far as jumping in and getting my circle started! I e mailed two agents whom I know through church. I won't hear back from one until Monday because I don't have his personal contact information, but I got a message back from Pastor Jeff today less than 1 minute after I e mailed him Smiling He is the childrens minister at my church and also happens to be a Real Estate Broker Associate! That's right, I e mailed a broker and an agent. Pastor Jeff is willing to be my little guinnea pig so that I can know exactly how I want to do my interviewing.

This is awesome because he is young, hasn't been in the industry long, but has a wealth of knowledge and to top it all off, I am wanting to keep my business ethical. With this said, I am so happy to have made contact with members of my church to add to my circle Smiling

Feels great to have taken ACTION!


Good Morning Journal

Praise the Lord! It is Sunday and I am tuning in to my church via the internet this am...

here's where we stand right this moment:

Yesterday I was able to:

Read Chapter 6 in Dean's Book and got a really good idea of what my first steps are. Wonderful information and I love hearing how Matt has done all that he's done along his way to being successful.

I made a list of 10 realtors to call on Monday morning. Why did I stop at 10, well I want to work in groups of 10 at a time. If I find none of those 10 will be what I need, then I will move on to the next group of 10 next week. I am making the calls on Monday, then setting up interviews with the ones that fall under the yes category on my steno pad. The no's I don't even follow up with. I am hoping that I will find someone in the next few weeks.

As I get closer to the end of the week, I am going to be searching for some Investing Groups here in my area.

Today's Goal is to go back and Read chapter 1 of Dean's Book. So, why did I skip it? I wanted to get my path started. Therefore I went on to Chapter 6 because the path I want to take to start with I needed to read chapter 6 first. I want to get my plan working as I am learning through his book, so, I am hoping that by the time I have my first assign ready to go, I will have this book almost finished!

I also have managed to get in touch with Jeff, who is willing to allow me to question him. I am hoping that this will interest him into becomming my broker! And Pat. Pat is a great man of God and is on vacation, however I did explain to him what I am doing and asked if he would be willing to allow me to interview him so that I can get it down a little more as to what I want to ask and how I want to go about this seeing as I have never done any interviewing in my life! He said he would be in touch as soon as he comes off of vacation the second week of August.

In addition to that, I have made contacts in Wisconsin, Indiana, and Illinois. I have residents of all three states who are willing to partner and do much of my legwork for me in those states!

So, in closing, I want to say this:

I have put in only the 20 for the book! Nothing else other than a few hours of research, reading, e mailing, and calling. It is amazing what you can do when you believe that you will succeed! See, put the action in the recipe and success is just around the corner!!! Dean and all of his students are so inspiring to me! I have been watching their testimonials and reading a lot on the forums. It is really teaching me more than I ever thought I could learn in the short time I have been here.

just a note: I gave my husband a steno pad with this on top of it:

What would you do with just $5000?

Here were the answers: (keep in mind that I told him anything he wants to do with this first 5k)

* 500 in savings
* 500 to our church
*1000 to bills we owe
* put 1000 away to help at tax time
* 1000 to start our children's christmas shopping (one of them wants an ipad)
* 600 for Recreational Center Membership (family membership for 1 yr)
* 300 for Busch Gardens Passes (our kids want this for christmas)
* 100 for dawn to go and get more scrapbooking stuff

I was amazed at how detailed he was and a lot of my amazement occurred when he was thinking about our future (savings), donating to our church, and the last one of paying bills shocked me as well! Such a great set of goals for the first bit of our success wouldn't ya think?


Feeling Great!

Today I start the day feeling great! Accomplishments so far:

I have made contact with my sister, whom lives in Wisconsin and is willing to run my team from there for me!!! It feels great to have someone who is close to me yet supporting me every step of the way.

Set up linked in! I have several rei groups set up on my account, so I am making progress toward finding my investors that way Smiling

I am about an hour away from getting information from my friend who is a broker.

My friend who is an agent is out of town til the 12th, but I am moving on anyway!

I have made it through chapters 1, 2, 1/2 of 3, and all of 6 in Deans book this weekend. Doing really good!

I am concentrating today on working on the book. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but I am moving and grooving!!! Looking forward to Dean's call tonight!

Goal for today:

E mail other Real Estate Agents on my list
Read through the rest of chapter 3 and all of 4.
Continue working Linked In
Family time with my kiddos!

Yep you heard it, I am doing all of this while still making sure I have time for my kids! It feels great to say, "I am a Work From Home Mom!"

One day at a time

So, yesterday feels like I got noting accomplished and when I feel like that, I take a step back and look at what I did do.

I was able to get in contact with Jeff. He is not looking for investors right now, however he did reiterate what Dean says about now being the best time to buy. I asked him flat out, "Jeff, I trust you because you are a friend, the pastor over my children and in the industry, so is now the right time to get in real estate?" He replied, "ABSOLUTELY!" So, with that said, I did gain some confidence in knowing I am doing the right thing.

I got some great advice here on the forums and have begun figuring out through trial and error where I need to go to find information on houses that are for sale. See, I don't know if I will be able to assign a contract to the house in question, but I wanted to question and use the research I am doing on that house as a base for knowing where to go when I need to find such information. I am taking notes as I find the right places, which helps.

So, I spent the day yesterday researching. I am reading today and continuing that research. I also was in on the call last night. Although the Rock Bottom is a great program, I just don't have the money to invest in it. I did however love the information that Matt and the others gave during it!

And the last video this morning was a refresher of the call for me. It was nice seeing dean explain it not just hearing it. Really, if I had the 2k to invest in it, I would have been the first person buying it!

Goal for today Read the rest of chapter 3 and chapter 4. Then find an agent who will assist me with the remainder of the research I have on that property.

The thing with this is I have to take it one day at a time and that is just what I am doing.


quick update

today, i haven't done as much as i wanted to, but that is how the cookie crumbles on days when i pack too much in my schedule, but on a lighter note, we spoke to daryl tonight who is helping us get the success academy set up!!! we are going to be the next ones to have a success story for DEAN! i also am finishing up my reading before bed tonight. i am really focusing on reading the two books we bought so that when we get the academy going i can jump right in and have that first deal, not in 30 days but in 14!!!! this program is going to work for us! we are going to be tomorrow's Matt Larson of today Smiling


today's a great day to be successful

yep! this is the day i am attacking my to do list that i have going from all of the chapters in deans book that i am reading! i can't wait! while we can't start success academy until later in the month due to pay check and when they fall and the like... I am so excited to get started making sure that things are done the way they need to be done. I can't wait to get this to do list done and be ready to do the tasks that my mentors tell me to do! this is going to be the biggest most life changing time of my life! my family is totally going to remember this change!

to today's to do list is:

identify all the positive people in my life and make a plan to spend more time with those people.

identify all the negative situations and make a plan to spend less time in those.

make a list of all things in my life that i am greatful for. spend everyday reading that list. once in the am and once in the pm

boycott the news!-- this one will be hard until next week. see at home we don't have cable, but while i am house sitting, i have access to the news... but i will do my best Smiling

look in the newspaper or drive around and count the number of for sale signs you see.

my educated guess on a great place to invest... scan the newspaper and decide what a good rental price would be for this area...

write out 1 or 2 classified ads, pencil out yard sign, moc up of my business card

make a list of all the places i can place free advertising

what types of advertising will i pursue?

make a list of the places i can place my ads

find where i can create recorded message...

get recorded message ready and test to make sure it works...

identify type of sellers i want to target first...

take the sample message scripts and tweak to fit my target sellers

that covers chapters 1-4. now while this is a long list, really it isn't that bad. I can do most of these things in under 10 minutes... So, I am working from now until lunch, then again from the time the girls are done eating until my husband gets home around 630 tonight. at 8 when the kids go to bed, i'll be reading chapter 5. i feel like i am really making good ground here Smiling


wow this is going fast!

not an hour later, and i already have most of the list knocked out... i actually put chapter 5 on the list, so now i am going to read that chapter so that i can get done that part... things are right at the front of my brain so it is making it really easy for me to do this... see, i think what is driving me is the disgust i have for not being able to give my family what i never had!!! this will work!


much needed day off

today i took the day off to spend with my family. i normally don't do that, but felt like we needed it. so, with that said i can't wait to start looking for properties for andy and his investor. it will be nice to do this as a team for the first deal so we can make sure we do it right together! and we get to share the assignment fee Smiling more to come as i can.. i am heading home this weekend so will not have as much time to be on the computer, but will update when i can as to my progress...


quick update

craigslist works!!! in 2 weeks, i haven't done much with this program. i had to take the time to spend with my girls who started school today, so when they left for school, i worked on the rei.

in less than 10 minutes after posting on craigslist, i had someone e mailing me saying he was interested in being on my buyers list!!! sooooo excited. i'll be looking for some properties for him tomorrow and forwarding them to him...

i just want to figure a few things out first... like what exactly he is looking for in an investment property and the like... that way i can take a drive around the area and find what he wants and do all the work for him Smiling
