Keeping your eyes on the prize

I know your life can seem as if it were a hive of angry bees or a swarm of gnats buzzing around. So many of us are inundated with activity that it’s hard to focus. Well, focus is something we have to do. We need to cut through all the stuff that crowds our lives. Kids are these amazing creatures. They have a way of seeing things in their most simple form. Have you ever been bombard by a barrage of “Whys”? They keep asking until you get to the real reason why you do what you do. It’s an excellent activity.

Dean’s blog on what’s important (blog #181) illustrates this point. When you break it down like that sometimes you find that some things don’t really matter. Allowing you to focus your activities and thoughts on what is important.

The 4 seasons

Autumn, as we sometimes call it fall. A time when we realize a change has to happen. Shakespeare wrote “Now is the winter of our discontent, made glorious summer by this sun of York…” a comment suggesting changes. We struggle through life unhappily. We look for a better way of existing. We choose REI as a means to that end. Anthony Robbins draws on the fact that eventually the pain of the condition/situation becomes so great that it inspires you to change.

"Get to stepin'!!!"

Success begins with you. If you are reading this consider yourself successful. Often I was told “I don’t know how to use a computer.” I always said you play games, check e-mail, look at photos, etc. You know how to use a computer. No matter what you’ve done so far in REI consider the fact that you are succeeding. It may not be apparent now but when you look back you will see that you’ve come a long way. This thought came to me not too long ago. As I am rehabbing my legs and learning to walk again, our cells have a memory. This memory tells them how to work. Toddlers start out by crawling then walking. A learned behavior. REI is no differ. We didn’t quit walking the 1st time we fell or stumbled? No, we continued to walk.
