The hardest part of anything is getting started, but I'm proud to finally start my blog and share my progress with the Dean Family. I got Deans books almost 3 years ago when I was a sophomore in high school. I'm 18 years old now, a freshman in college, a waiter at olive garden, and I hope to be one of Dean's youngest success stories. I've read "PROFIT FROM REAL ESTATE RIGHT NOW!" twice (going on 3 times), and spend a lot of time researching on the site.
I just found a great realtor to work with a couple weeks ago, and since then properties have been showing up in my email at least 3 days a week! Progress is a great feeling! I haven't done my first deal yet, but I have no doubt, my first deal isn't far. I've already found a title company less than 2 miles from my house, that handles assignment deals and double closings. I plan on starting out with wholesaling. I'm only working with one investor right now because he happens to be my landlord and a family friend, very trustworthy, but I am confident that I will have no trouble in finding more investors when I'm ready. Whether its through R.E.I. clubs, "For Rent" signs, craigslist, or another method.
I've learned almost everything I need to know to get started, but I still don't feel comfortable enough with all of the contracts to handle my first closing. So thats where I am, and with a little more knowledge on contracts, I'll close the gap between me and my first deal.
To anyone who's starting out: DONT GIVE UP!! With knowledge comes confidence, and with confidence comes comfortability, followed by success. Having said that, my advice to beginners like myself would be to try writing out the main things that you're unfamiliar with, and once you learn something, cross it off your list. This could be anything that has to do with real estate, like "what is an assignment?". Virtually every answer can be found here on the site, in Dean's "PROFIT FROM REAL ESTATE RIGHT NOW!" book, or on wikipedia. (If you don't already have that book, I would strongly suggest getting it however you can, I believe its on Amazon, Halfprice Books, and of course on the site.)
Responses are welcomed, til next time, good luck everyone!

Everything can be found and their are many people right here to help you understand things as well. With the books and google, and helpful people you can quickly find the answers to your rei questions. Studying and getting comfortable is key. Networking is also Key, and for that reason you should also have a bio on here letting people know your location and what you do. Best wishes! Tammy
Thanks Tammy
You're absolutely right, even though contracts can be a little confusing, I am not having any trouble finding the information. Great advice about creating a bio, I hadn't even thought about that. Networking is the definitely key, I forgot to mention in my last blog that I told my chiropractor about what I'm doing and he introduced me to his brother who has his own firm and is in charge of all the mortgage lending! Also, my landlord has really good connections for just about everything, roofing, wiring, interior and exterior repairs and renovations, inspections, pool installation, you name it. It just goes to show, a lot of times its all about who you know, and if you feel like you don't know anyone it doesn't hurt to get to know the right people.
