NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Pressure is mounting on U.S. banks to halt more foreclosures amid widespread allegations that loan servicers failed to verify legal documents in what could be hundreds of thousands of cases.

Members of Congress from California wrote to the heads of the Justice Department, the Federal Reserve, and the Comptroller of the Currency on Tuesday, requesting that they investigate the foreclosure processes of banks under their purview for "possible violations of law or regulations."

Home buyers are an increasingly rare breed these days. Many who were eager to buy a house raced to take advantage of federal homebuyer tax credits. When those government perks expired in April, home sales essentially went into deep freeze, plummeting to levels not seen in more than a decade, according to the latest numbers from the National Association of Realtors.

Still, the Realtors project that nearly 4 million existing homes will sell in 2010. First-time buyers, without the burden of a home to sell, could benefit from the foul market–and the record low mortgage rates.

Attention DG Family!!!

SOMEONE SENT ME THIS EMAIL THIS MORNING. THERE IS AN ARTICLE ATTACHED I CAN'T SEEM TO COPY. THE ARTICLE IS FROM THE ROUNDTABLE - HEALTH LAWS HEAVY IMPACT.

REAL ESTATE SALES TAX

So, this is "change you can believe in"?

Under the new health care bill - did you know that all real estate transactions will be subject to a 3.8% Sales Tax? The bulk of these new taxes don't kick in until 2013 (presumably after obama’s re-election). You can thank Nancy, Harry and Barack and your local Democrat Congressman for this one. If you sell your $400,000 home, there will be a $15,200 tax. This bill is set to impact the retiring generation who often downsize their homes. Is this Hope & Change great or what? Does this stuff makes your November and 2012 votes more important?

Missouri judge orders real estate tax on fall ballot -- Transfer taxes can be collected when real estate properties are sold...

Look out RE investors in Missouri. This will likely affect you too. "Transfer taxes can be collected when homes, land and other real estate is sold."

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A judge on Tuesday ordered a real estate tax initiative to appear on Missouri’s November ballot, concluding the measure’s supporters submitted enough valid signatures from voters.

Earlier this month the Missouri secretary of state’s office concluded that too few signatures were submitted for the initiative to appear. Cole County Circuit Judge Paul Wilson effectively overruled that and ordered election officials to place the measure on the ballot.

Moderately Faster Economic and Job Growth Lies Ahead

The NAHB has indicators showing slow growth occuring and more growth ahead. Which is good.

Eye on the Economy

Moderately Faster Economic and Job Growth Lies Ahead The economy continued to grow in the second quarter, slowing down from previous quarters and not as fast as economists would like to see it, but it was growth nevertheless, with gross domestic product (GDP) advancing at an annual rate of 2.4%, its fourth consecutive quarterly increase.

GDP grew in this year’s first quarter at a 3.7% pace and in the fourth quarter of 2009 at 5.0%. The concern that this cool down presages a double dip and return to recession seems to be overblown.

Investors Making a Bundle

Here is an article I read this morning that I thought the DG family might like to read.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- These are the glory days of the residential real estate investor. Low prices, rock-bottom interest rates and stable rental markets have created huge buying opportunities.

"It's awesome right now. I don't think we'll ever see another time like this," said Tanya Marchiol of Team Investments, which has operations in about 10 states but focuses mostly on the Phoenix market.

These investors are known to many as vultures because they swoop in and buy "distressed properties" -- foreclosures and short sales -- cheap. Places like Las Vegas, Phoenix and Miami are popular because home prices there have dropped as much as 70%.

A California City cracking down on LandLords

In the Telegram Tribune, the city of San Luis Obispo is cracking down on LandLords and forcing them to apply for business licenses. The ordinance has been around since 1991 but most LandLords were unaware of it. The city will issue warning to all homeowners who rent their homes and after a third warning, the city will issue a $500 citation for everyday they are not in compliance. Greedy greedy greedy if you ask me.
