This is my first post. I have been a part of the DG Family for over a year now but have never posted a journal because I was embarrassed. It has been a year and we have yet to do a deal. We still haven't done a deal yet using the strategies we learned from Dean but as of yesterday we closed on a house using money we grouped together with family and bought a short sale home where the seller fell through for 95k. From the time we made the offer to today, when we officially get the property, the value has already gone up to possibly 130k. So we are considering flipping it. Also, I have been working with a local investor in town and I found him a deal by posting an ad on Craigslist and he bought the house for 67,500, rehab for around 10k and selling for 127,000. So I guess you can say we are in 2 deals now . Even though they are not exactly what Dean teaches but we would never have done any of it without the education we have received from Dean. So thank you. I do still plan on building a wholesaling business using what we've learned. My two worries are having reliable proof of funds and how to transfer the name when we find an end buyer. So if anyone can give us some feedback on that it would be greatly appreciated .
So let me introduce myself I guess . My name is Eric and my business partner and significant other is Judy (Not married yet). We have been together for 7 years now and started the Dean program together. I had to drag her by the hair at first but she is coming along very well. Now she has to push me to keep going . We are both in our late 20's and feel way too old for our age . We grew up without much. Our families were immigrants from Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Cambodia. When I was young we were pretty poor. Not too bad but we did have food stamps and stuff like that. Well over the years our families worked very hard and now we've become spoiled lazy brats. I mean us younger generation. We are well off now but my mom works way too hard for her age. My dad is retired and still having money problems. My older brother is off in Chicago going through optometry school. So it's just my mom and I working and managing our family's finances. According to Dean one of the first and most important things is our Why. I still try to figure it out but I think I have a pretty good idea. It's not one specific thing but many things tied together. First of all I don't want my mom to work anymore. I don't want her to wake up every morning in a sour mood because she's worrying about our family's finances. She saved every penny all her life so that we can live comfortably without much worries. I want her to have the freedom to live for herself and do the things she wants without worrying about next month's payments. Second is my Dad. Our relationship with him has been pretty bad for a long time now. He is past the age of retirement but still owes a lot of debt. He is unable to pay it and unable to make more income. So he resorted to gambling as his savior. As you can imagine it turned for the worst. For years now I haven't been able to open up to him or have a real conversation with him. It may be my fault too but every time I see him I just feel angry and disappointed. So I want to create wealth so I can once and for all erase the negativity between us and have a happy family again. Third is my brother. He is going through school and hopefully will come out with a good career so I'm not too worried about him, but he has a bad spending habit. I would like to have the skills and knowledge to help him invest his money so that he wouldn't be forced to stay in a career if he didn't want to. Then there's Judy. She's awesome. She's an awesome partner. We are a lazy couple sometimes and get on each other's nerves but I want us to grow together. We pretty much are stuck together by the hip. As the man of the relationship I should be a success and be able to provide for us and our future family. As well, I want her to come to her own success so we are in it together. But I still don't want to let her down and make her feel like she met the wrong guy. So there are a lot of things on my mind as my why. There is much more but I don't think anyone really cares to read that much . So ultimately I guess it boils down to, helping, making people proud, and freedom.
Sorry for the long journal entry. I wasn't planning on writing my life story but once I start writing it's hard to stop. Plus, it feels good to get it out there. At least maybe someone might care or understand . Thanks for reading. Next time it will be more about real estate and less about me. Thanks.
