I really hadn't planned on starting a journal, especially considering we dont know what we're doing yet (lol), but after reading a few members journals, most of which hadn't started yet, I now understand the importance. Let me start off by saying my husband & I are totally new to REI, although we're in the process of getting our real estate licenses. I'm 23 & he's 26 yo, just married, & we want to start securing our & our family's future. We both come from two amazing hardworking mothers who always managed to provide for us. The problem is most hardworking people dont usually receive the financial compensation they deserve & they spend their whole lives just barely getting by. Of course our parents told us "go to college" but college doesnt guarantee anything anymore. I have many friends with degrees who I thought were "ahead of me" in life & come to find out they cant get a stable & decent paying job anywhere. Now everyone's getting older & we want to be able to provide for them in addition to ourselves & future children. We live in sunny south Florida (minus hurrican season), which I've always heard is a real estate "gold mine". So I was wondering if there are any DG members out there who are familiar with the south FL market/trends & could offer us some guidance. I've yet to read any DG books, though I actually ordered two that are being delivered this week, & we are also very excited to be attending a DG seminar in Miami in less than 2 weeks. Supposedly, the county we live in (Broward) has the highest foreclosure rate in the nation. How can we take advantage of whats going on in our own backyard??
