I have found a vacant property and it is the only vacant one in a nice neighborhood. It is in really bad shape and needs a lot of work. Not a problem as I have found an investor who owns a construction company and that's what he wants. The problem is this, the owner has not paid ANY taxes in ten years! I tracked down the owners phone number and left a message to call me back about the property and did not get a response and when I called the company who is handling the taxes they said they had already started litigation on it and would only tell me they are owed about ten thousand, give or take. That's just property tax. I'm assuming they have not paid school taxes or county taxes either so it's a lot more than ten thousand. Given the average value in the area is between 60 and 100 thousand, I could still make a decent profit but is it too late to make an offer given the litigation process having been started? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I live in Pittsburgh, PA if it makes a difference legally.
