When installing a dishwasher in a rental unit remember the discharge hose from the diswasher needs to be "looped" and fastened to the underside of the counter top per code, and then come down and connect to the kitchen sink drain piping or garbage disposer. Since the discharge hose exits from the bottom of the dishwasher; inexperienced installers mistakenly assume to run the hose laterally through the side of the sink cabinet and then connect up to the drain piping or disposer. The reason for the "loop" in the hose is to avoid cross contamination from dirty sink water back into the diswasher.
