Keeping your eyes on the prize

I know your life can seem as if it were a hive of angry bees or a swarm of gnats buzzing around. So many of us are inundated with activity that it’s hard to focus. Well, focus is something we have to do. We need to cut through all the stuff that crowds our lives. Kids are these amazing creatures. They have a way of seeing things in their most simple form. Have you ever been bombard by a barrage of “Whys”? They keep asking until you get to the real reason why you do what you do. It’s an excellent activity.

Dean’s blog on what’s important (blog #181) illustrates this point. When you break it down like that sometimes you find that some things don’t really matter. Allowing you to focus your activities and thoughts on what is important.

What is your why? It varies from person to person. By asking this fundamental question you keep your eyes on the prize. Another technique the use of Post-it notes. They can be placed all over. Reminding you. A technique I use frequently is after making my long range goals, I take them and break them down to smaller short range goals. Doing it this also allows you to track your progress. You should celebrate along the way. Ending in one grand event.
