Country Girl at Heart

First of all I would like to introduce myself as a Country Girl at Heart. I was raised in South Louisiana on the bayou. I grew up hunting and fishing with my family. Some of my favorite memories are of going crawfishing with my dad. We would go and run our traps and dad would turn my brother loose on his own runs and then we would meet up along the way and see how everything was going for him. I also enjoyed going camping with my Nanny and Parin and their family. We would spend weeks out there during the summer months. Man kids today think they have it all with all the technologies but, I KNOW we had it all back then. Alot less stress, less drugs and more fun! We would have a little meat from home with us that Nanny would cook, mostly chicken stew and such and the rest of the time we lived on what we could catch. Awww, fresh fried catfish and frog legs...man do I miss those days. Anyway I grew up, left home and married one of the most wonderful men in the world. We didn't have much but, we managed. He was disabled due to an illness he had from birth. He had a huge heart and lots of kindness in his spirit though. We were never blessed with children of our own though we have 2 babies in heaven. I also lost the love of my life to cancer 4 years ago also. I worked very hard to keep us fed, clothed and a roof over our heads and managed quite well sometimes and not quite so well other times. We had some rough times but, the good times were greater by comparison. I was raised Baptist by faith by my ever loving grandmother. Daddy and momma did their best to provide for us also. We didn't have designer jeans and shoes but, we had love and guidance and I think that was worth alot more than designer jeans. We were taught to work for something if you wanted it and nothing was just handed to you in life. My dad did not have much of an education in a school setting but, he did not let that stop him from working. My grandmother always told us to do the best we could in school because she didn't have the opportunity to get an education. My grandmother is one of my HERO'S. Love you Granny!! To sum it up I am a hard working, determined "Coonass" country girl and when I put my mind to something try and stop me!! I am tired of working for other people's benefit and not getting anything to show for it. I am a fighter!!
